It is sad that some people miss the point of this forum and do not have the patience or willingness to do the work to support this forum. Then they get mad because no one can or in their mind no one will take them by the hand and lead them to the promised land of super fast computing on their dinosaur ( I love my 8500). In this forum we are attempting (usually successfully) to get software to run on systems that it was not designed to run on. It will never be perfect but it can be fun..... griping takes the fun out. There is going to be hardware and software that we will never get to work the way we would like but it can be a fun trip. There are those of us who are doing this out of necessity and others who do it for the challenge but lets leave the griping out it is non productive and brings the mood way down. To Ryan et Al (and everyone else) This is a great place I look forward to turning on my machine and seeing what new nuisance has been conquered or hardware challenge overcome. It is many times a better lift than my morning cup of coffee. Thank you to all |

I agree 100%. May I propose an official response to the bitchers and whiners? "Spring for a new machine and quit whining: XPF saved you two grand or so if it works, and if it doesn't, put out the bucks and go away." |

You know it's funny... I've had a new PB 15" since Nov. 02 and yet every day when I get home from work the first thing I do is check out this forum from my beloved 7300. Yes the PB is faster and generally more stable but I have this undying affinity for this ancient mariner.I still want to get a 800Mhz card for it. I use it as a internet server with my DSL connection and as a print server. Those of you who are feeling me understand the sheer joy in trying to beat the odds that Uncle Steve has stacked up against us. But he fails to take into consideration the things that made us purchase our macs in the first place. We want to take our old macs into the new frontiers opened by OS X no matter the struggle. So stop bitchin' and moaning and try to contribute. |

I have gained insight in this forum and gotten help. Well worth the $10. I too love my 8600/200 and withg every small upgrade it just seems a little better. It has allowed me to run my ipod and feed my love for music thru the music store itunes etc. Kudos to Ryan. In the future when i cann afford a faster machine. of I will get one. |

I agree with every point you make here, fixitjc! Instead of complaining, we ought to explore ways to make this a better, fun, and more useful forum for all while we wait for Ryan and/or OWC to improve our lot. Tom PowerTower ProSonnet G4 800Sonnet Tempo TrioRadeon 7000OS 10.2.6 |

Well said fixitjc, my wife says I love my old PTP more than I love her, she just doesn't get why I still hold on to this old machine. Gabby |
