Figured out why CCC did not see target volume |

A while ago I had posted a problem in that CCC would only see my startup disk and not other SCSI drives I had connected to my computer. As a result I could not make bootable clones of my HD, which I'd like to do. It took many, many, many tries to get OS X 10.1.5 working on my 7600, and I've got many, many 7600's I'd like to set up with 10.1.5. So it is much easier to clone than to reinstall for each one! The problem was that I had not installed the BSD subsystem. Granted, the CCC web site does say that the BSD subsystem is required. However, if you run the program and the BSD subsystem is not installed it will cheerfully launch itself, and stubbornly refuse to see any volumes other than the startup drive. So if this happens to you, now you know what is wrong. I discovered how to re-install the BSD subsystem without needing to re-install all of OS X. I put in a 10.1 install CD, went in to the system->install->packages folder and copied the bsd.pkg file to my hard drive. I then dragged this file on top of the installer app (a copy is in the applications/utilities folder) and proceeded to install the BSD subsystem. It went pretty quick (about 5 minutes or so on a 7600/180), and I did not even have to reboot! CCC now sees the target volume, and it is cloning right now. |

I had same problem to clone 10.2 to another disk. I remember i used Pacifist to drag bsd subsystem from cd to system. |
