Hey All, Some time ago (a long time ago) I upgraded my 604e based Umax with a NewerTech 333Mhz G3 ZIF upgrade card and it has been running flawlessly for the past few years. However, with OS X and a few other software products, it is showing its age. I would like to upgrade with a new CPU card but want one that will last me for a few more years (i.e. will be fast enough for current cpu hungry software products such as iTunes). What card/speed are you all using and is it running without hitches? Thanks y'all! --Bondster!! |

a few months ago I upgraded my J700 to an XLR8 400 MHz G4 ZIF adapter daughtercard that I picked up from Daystar Technology via eBay. It works great under OS X using the PowerLogix software, and under 9.1 using the XLR8 driver. A G4 makes a huge difference in performance, especially in Aqua, iTunes and iPhoto. (BTW, Daystar is a great company to deal with regarding customer support, way better than I ever got from Sonnet). |

sorry folks I know this isnot Ebay but i have a Newer Tech G4 400 Mhz (1mb level 2 cache) laying around, i used it for 1 1/2 years, works great, honestly it does, I still have the box and everything. I just upgraded to a Sonnet G4 800 Mhz card, and trust me the Newer Tech card is much more stable and more compatible with everything, even though the speed is better with the SOnnet card, but then I paid $ 350 for it.
