Actually the B/W G3 was the first machine to have 64 bit PCI slots macwise... Although I am doubtful it would do better either. Marty |

Bye bye FW 800 PCI card for now. I will get a FW 800 external drive with a FW 400 coonection on it so I can use it for the new machine by the end of this year. thanks guys. gabby |

yeah, the makers of the cards say that they will not proform to the max with out the 64bit PCI expantion slots that the newer g4s have, then add in the slow bus and it may bump the speed a few MB/s but not much, if you are planning to get a new computer in the future and are going to use what ever you get now with the new computer then i would recomend that so that you can still use the drive with the future macs. |

I believe there was a post covering this before..... Sure wish we had a searchable ...... I believe the answer was it wouldn't help because of limitations of either the bus speed or the PCI bus. Jim |
