Just to let everyone know that Powerlogix have a new cache enabler for OSX called CPU Director which supports L2 and L3 caches and supersedes Cache Control X 2.1. It's available at http://www.powerlogix.com/support2/cpudirector/index.html It works fine on my 8600 with G3/400 although I obviously don't have any L3 cache to test it against. I only came across it by accident, they seem to have kept it's existence very quiet. |

well, applications quits from time to time randomly ... too bad because I was enjoying the new horsepower given by 250Mhz cache |

GREAT!!! With the old PL enabler, the cache of my G3/500 PL could not be set to 2:1 (it crashed immediatly) and I had to stay at 5:2. Now it works perfectly at 250Mhz (2:1) ... it's not a great jump, but I feel that Jaguar is a little more responsive, wich is not bad at all. |

i could not even open sonnets files so that did not work but i did decide to go with L2Cacheconfig because if you cange the file where it gets the info about the speed of the cache to the same number that the powerlogix enabler has on the L2 window you will get the 2:3 ratio and it will enable it on restart unlike powerlogix. it is a slower boot because of when the cache is enabled but my system feels a little more responcive. |

CPU director always required me to manually start the cache after every restart. It would never stay on between restarts. Powerlogix is aware of the problem and plans on fixing it in a later release (we are not priority since we are 'unsupported'). I went back to L2CacheConfig for now. -Ben |

hmmmmm.... the powerlogix enabler fails to enable on restart, so it is ungodly slow until i can get to the enabler and turn the cache on. maybe the Sonnet extention can be altered to enable cache at the 2:3 ratio. i will look into it. |

no idea, i tried 1:1 but it just froze, i don't think it will actually hurt your computer, the software is made so that if it crashes, it will enable the cache at the last speed that worked on restart. Nothing happened to my computer after going for 1:1 so give it a shot, it does not seem like anything would happen. You might wait till tomorrow to make sure my computer can last a day :) Disclaimer - if you attempt to overclock your cache in anyway I am not responsible for any damage that may occurs. i had to through that in, just in case :) |
