I'm stuck at 10.2.3 |

Bonjour a tous I have a 7300 upgraded to a Sonnet G4 700. Most everything go great, but I cannot run 10.2.4 and up, and my original CD-rom reader cannot be left empty, there has to be a CD-rom inside it , if not the machine is too slow to be usable (under OSX). But the big problem is that I'm stuck at 10.2.3. I can install any others OS's but the Mac just wont boot at all. I tried combo, automatic etc. What can be done?? Thank you. |

10.2.3 boot flawlessly 100% of the times. I switch from 9 to 10 effortlessly. There must be something wrong somewhere. But thank's alot for the info. |

I have basically given up on the ATA booting setup I had here... I was using a 60G Maxtor with the Acard 66 card, which works SOMETIMES. Other times, it fails to load drivers at boot, or just shows the pinwheel forever... If it boots it works fine, but the intermittent booting thing is too much for me. On the other hand, my UW SCSI setups are bullet proof, so I am using them as my boot drives, and the Maxtor only for Storage and backup. This problem in not exclusive to XPF on old world macs, as I have personally seen these ATA card setups act flakey even on supported OSX hardware aka B/ W G3. Marty |

HD is new maxtor ATA/133 connected to an ATA/100 sonnet PCI card. It is the master. |

Radeon 7000 as video card. I tried reinstalling the extension, no good. What is so different in 10.2.4 and up??? Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext trashed, no good. Thank you all for your help, please keep it coming. Sylvain |

What video cards do you have in the system? I had similar lock-ups at boot when trying to go past 10.2.3 until I ditched my Voodoo 5 in the machine for a Radeon 7000. (Ugh, worse 3D performance in OpenGL than the Voodoo 5...) Since I got the Radeon 7000, I was able to boot into 10.2.6 with no problems. What sort of PCI cards do you have installed and who made them? |

This is very strange. As I know the only change that could stop your boot process is the new kernel v. 6.6, but this works with my 9500 Try to remove the Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext in case you have them corrapted. I do not know what other could be the problem :-( |

thank you for your time!! No the combo do not work either fresh from 10.2 or 10.2.3. How do I install the xpf drivers??? Permissions always fixed just before update. X is on a different partition from 9.2.2, X is on the master HD. (4.77 G partitions) Both HD are new maxtor ATA/133 connected to an ATA/100 sonnet PCI card. Again G4/700 sonnet, 608 MB of OWC ram. What more can be done?? |

No just install the cmbo update. As I can understand there could be a problem at the old systemn you try to update. Try these two: try to fix the permisions just in case that there is a permission problem, and also reinstall the XPF drivers. If this does not work Try the second reinstall the 10.2 and update it from there to 10.2.6 with a combo |
