Any luck getting America's Army to run? |

I downloaded America's Army last night but have been unsuccessful in getting it to run. I can launch the game and change the game settings using the keyboard, I even registered that way, but as soon as I move the mouse the game quits. Similarly, once I tried to start the basic training mission the game quits. System requirements say that your video card should be a Radeon 7500. I have an original Mac Edition Radeon, 1GB RAM and a Sonnet G4/800 processor. I did not expect it to work but I reasoned that despite the specs there might be some leeway. I guess not. |

There is a post in Inside Mac Games that reports an incompatability between America's Army and the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card. I have one installed so it appears that that was the source of my trouble getting the game to start. It is recommended that audio be redirected to the built-in audio subsystem for the game to run correctly. That's good news. I'll try it out again this weekend. |

It runs on my PTP G3/420 with radeon PCI (original). That is with 512M of ram. Also, playability is another question entirely, although it looks doable in some painful way at least. Marty |

I realized over the weekend that I have a system problem in that the "D" key on my keyboard when pressed sometimes does not stop sending the signal that it has been pressed. Finder menu behavior with the mouse is the similar to what I saw when America's Army was running. I can't tell yet whether the problem is the keyboard or software because it is intermittent but I will try some things this week to try and determine where the problem is before doing a reinstall. So the short of it is that the game may run afterall. |

If i did not have this ridicules satellite i would get it and try even though i am 300Mhz below requirements. It could be the bus speed that it does not like, there is supposed to be some kind of log you can pull up for crashes, go to the forums and check it out, you can browse with out registering. |

I use a USB mouse and keyboard but do have an ADB mouse and keboard attached in case of trouble. I'll give it a try without. I waited until the game was posted on some mirror sites. I didn't want to spend $6 and not be sure the game would run. I looked at the settings files and did see that on the PC a Radeon 7000 is supported but I have not found anything referencing the Mac yet so that gives me some hope that it might be made to run. |

It may be the ADB bus, do you have a USB mouse? I know that you can probably post a question on the Mac forums if you don't want to just wast the 6 bucks you just spent. I was going to get it untill i saw the 700Mhz requirment!!!! i have a 400Mhz card. I want to see if i can overclock it with software and that got me thinking about the "throttle" setting and i took a look at ryans code but i am not exactly a programmer of his quality... or even half... Yet. |
