I thought I would collect some of my XPF issues in one place, if that is helpful for Ryan, that I've experienced with my 2400c/G3 running 10.2.4. Some of these have been posted here before by me and others. In a perfect world, I'd regress these against a Wall Street running vanilla OS X and a desktop machine running XPF, but I don't have either. - iTunes 4 will see a shared iTunes library on the network, but cannot play it (it can share its own library fine, however) - D-Link DWL-122 802.11b USB adapter isn't recognized by its drivers, and can cause a kernel panic if plugged and unplugged a couple of times - Neither PC Card is recognized if both are present during boot, even if they are manually ejected and reinserted (true of both CardBus and 16-bit cards) - The speaker does not turn off if headphones are attached (and the volume is fixed at line-level output) - The backlight is not adjustable after boot (it can be turned on and off before boot with Open Firmware) - I have had various network instabilities, but I don't have enough evidence to firmly pin it on XPF -- the 2400c has no built-in Ethernet, so I've had to rely on third-party network hardware which has never seemed quite robust enough. I don't have duplicates of anything though, or other machines to test on, so I don't know whether to blame it on the hardware, the drivers, or XPF. I don't have any problems with anything in OS 9/8.6, however. The CompUSA house brand 10/100 CardBus PC card using RealTek's drivers seemed to work ok, but yielded inexplicably slow downloads in some cases; the MacSense AeroPad Plus USB 802.11b adapter seemed to "fall off the net" sometimes (it would work fine, but then I'd suddenly lose IP connectivity until restart); the Farallon Fast EtherTX 10/100 CardBus card using the built-in DEC drivers drops transmit packets like crazy; the Farallon SkyLine 11 Mbps 802.11b card using WirelessDriver doesn't have any problems that come to mind, though it's been a while since I've used it. Hope this is helpful. Ivan. |

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: I can't seem to rip audio with a Plextor 40x SCSI CD-ROM drive. I can with a 4X Yamaha CD-R drive, however. |
