I bought a PowerMac 9600 on Ebay after buying a PowerMac 7600 in town for $30 and installing OSX 10.1.x and then 10.2.x without a hitch using XPostfacto 2.2.5 ... boy, what a mistake. It took me almost a month of trying this or that but I finally my 9600 loaded with 10.2.6. The hitch was the video card that came with the 9600 which was a 12 mb factory option card ... since the 9600 doesn't have built-in video output I shelled out for an ATI 7000 radeon PCI card and that did the trick. I even wient so far as to buy the Sonnet PCI installer but that did no-good. Thought someone could profit from my errors. |

Yeah, but look at all those PCI slots and drive bays ! An upgraders Mecca (or nightmare !! ) YMMV A USB and a FIREWIRE card for all the add-on you can't fit inside, and a Sonnett G4700 or 800 and ATA hard drive controllers will really rock the house. good luck. |
