Asante 10/100 PCI ethernet card works fine when using 9.2.2. When OSX is running it is way slower. Creeping along saying it will take 5 hours on OSX. The same folder on 9.2.2 is a couple minutes. How can OSX go at the same rate as 9.2.2? |

Thanks Vox!!! My Asante displays the same symptoms during large transfers (hit & miss). I assumed I was clogging my PCI bus to much with all the clutter. This was my final glitch to resolve (other than a very infrequent graphics distortion problem on wake from sleep). I am on the hunt for a DEC-based card today. I owe you one. |

download the Realtek driver from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=16&Software= Tr ue they are very, very, very cheap PC ethernet cards. You can even buy one unbranded, it WILL certainly work, I have two of them. They work in OS 9 and OS X, at full speed. |

The Asante 10/100 card was a no go for me. Always caused crashes when trying to transfer large files over Ethernet. Others have had success with the Realtek 8139 based cards. It never worked for me either but I may never had found the right drivers. I finally settled on a card with built in support: Apple_DEC21x4Ethernet.kext is the built in extension which enables ethernet cards based on the DEC21x4 chip to work well in OS X. Just use Google or similar to find cards based on this chip. Ed |
