G3DT w OWC G4/500 won't boot in X |

We have a beige G3 that we upgraded with a OWC G4/500 ZIF and a 40MB ATA drive that we partitioned to 7 MB and 32 MB. After installing OS9 and then OSX we cannot get it to boot in X. It stops at a blinking ? disk. We had difficulty even getting it to boot in 9 and usually have to press the option key to get it to boot. Is there something we missed in the process? I thought this would be a pretty straight forward install. |

We did the partitioning OK and OSX will install OK but it won't boot from OSX. It doesn't find the system file or whatever and just stops at a Question mark disk. We can get it to boot in 9.1 only if we hold down the option key while booting. We can't get 9.2 to install. A message says it can't install it on the HD. Thanks for any help |

I assume the FIRST partition is you X disk? I did this on a beige g3, I split the stock disk into to equal parts on the stock 6 gig disk and worked fine without any tinkering or XPF. You may want to adjust the partition size making the x disk the first partition and give it 8 gigs. |
