Does anybody know how to get a Global Village Teleport (56K) serial modem to work in OS X? Is this possible? I hate to switch to a USB type modem (no money available right now). Thanks in advance for any help. |

I do believe that having the kprintf option on is the problem. I will test it later today. This is a BIG HELP if it works. Not to worried about running in Classic -- just would like to run Safari under X Thanks!!! |

Dude your still here? Cool.... I have a powertower Pro and a GV modem hooked to my serial port. Just go to the network control panel and you should see a "modem port" option in the ports drop down menu... Unless you didn't install the BSD subsystem. Marty PS works fine for data and FAX. I DONT USE CLASSIC FOR THIS |

I used a GV Platinum Teleport with my 7300 all the way from 10.0 to Jaguar. All I did was plug it into the modem port and use the Network pref pane with "modem port". I made a new location, since "automatic" caused me problems. The kicker was to use the correct GV modem "choice" in the modem tab - I think that I used the 28.8 - k56. I got no luck without the right one, but with it I was great for about 2 years. BTW - I disabled the printer and built in ethernet ports for faster startup (under network ports) - NOT delete, just uncheck. I didn't have to use any scripts or make any complicated additions; I just turned it on and it worked like a charm. |

I don't know about the PowerTower Pro but I know the serial ports work on other Macs like the 8600. You just have to make sure that the kprintf option is not turned on in XPostFacto. Also, serial ports are not accessible to apps running in the Classic compatibility environment. |

But how do I get OS X to recognize the serial port on my PowerTower Pro? |
