to go from 9 to x you have to use XPF, restarting x to x is fine cold boot from x to x is fine too, just can't go from 9 to x. |

That sounds Awesome- and sooooo easy- I'm reading this from work- Does this mean that I have to use XpostFacto everytime I use OSX? Can't I just boot from the HD? |

Just use XPostFacto as if you were doing an install (instead of double-clicking on install Mac OS X). Do the Reset Password thing, and then quit to restart. Instead of holding down the mouse button, hold down the option key to get back to Mac OS 9. Then you can use XPF again to reboot to your desired volume. |

Hi ant, Mac help tells us the following: "Insert the Mac OS X CD and double-click the install Mac OS X. When the installer appears, choose Reset Password from the Installer menu. Follow the onscreen instructions to change the password. Quit the installer and restart your computer while holding down the mouse button to eject the CD." However, since we have to use XPF I'm not altogether this works for us. Perhaps other people in this forum have tried this? Cheers, Jonck |

I suspect Norton has moved a file which is required for OSX to boot. Have you tried using the "Reinstall BootX" option from the XPostFacto "Advanced" menu? |
