Today I did my first OSX boot from firewire HD. It works great and I like that I can use my firewire HD just in order to test or scan my hard disk for problems. The only problem I have is that I cannot boot from any CD firewire or internal with the new version but I hold my breath as the new version and 10.3 support is coming :-) |

Ah, I haven't tested booting from the Norton Utilities CD. It's something that should work in XPF 3, but I guess there's a bug. I'll get my hands on a CD like that and test it. |

Well I have a sonnet ATA 133 card with a DVD ROM drive. With old XPF I could boot from the CD with no problems but just for install the OS. With the new version I can steel do that but I cannot boot from a norton utilities CD. This is a CD that I do not want to install on the HD just to boot from it. The CD ROM is shown as gray in the top left window. ----------------- A nice feature you could include is OS9 booting. Why not use XPF in stead of Startup disk control panel, or even make it control panel itself :-) |

The problem with booting from Firewire CD's is a known one--I hope to fix it yet. But I don't know about problems booting from internal SCSI or IDE. Can you describe what happens when you try? And what kind of CD-ROM you're using. |
