On 10.2.8 (with no problems yet - real encouraging to know Apple's pulled update...). Using 3a4 - beautiful job, Ryan! - but I must be stupid cuz can't figure out how to boot from a CD. Tried several, no dice. Booting from 9.2 it recogzines the CD, but not in helper list and Restart grayed out. I know I'm screwing up here. XPF won't open in 10 at all - tho used to, sort of. Anyone know the trick of trying to get a Diskwarrior X and other utils to boot? 7300/200 w/G3 and int IBM drive. All fine cept for disk boot. |

It looks like XPF 3 mistakenly thinks that some of the utility-type CDs are installers. I'll have to take a look at them and see why that's happening. Also, XPF has trouble figuring out the Open Firmware name for some FW CD-ROMs (but not all of them). I can reproduce that problem, so I should be able to fix it. |

I have always been able to boot from a FW CD with XPF, just selected it in the main menu and select a helper then restart. It worked with 3a3 and 3a4. But that was with the installer, i would imagen though if the installer can boot then any CD should boot... |

I too cannot select any CDs at all to start up from. The restart button is greyed out. The CDs are selectable in the list, but the button for restarting is greyed out. I'll try again after I find my DW3 CD. I seem to be one of the (few?) that haven't had problems with 10.2.8 yet. It's just slower than 10.2.6, by a fair amount. - Chibi Delennâ„¢ |

Hmm. It should work--I tested it the other day, in fact, with a BootCD-created CD. What should happen is that you should be able to select the CD in the main list, and then pick a helper volume in the popup (actually, it should default to something suitable). Is the CD greyed out, or just the Restart button? I wonder whether XPF thinks the CD is an installer? Does it appear in the Install CD popup? Actually, I should probably just take a look at your log file, if you could e-mail that to me. (It should be in the preferences folder, in the system folder). As for the Mac OS X version, how far do you get when you try to launch it? One problem I've noted is that it won't launch successfully when a disk image is mounted--this is a new problem in 3.0a4. So I'll have to fix that :-) |
