10.2.8 running fine on my PM7500 G3/375. Seems that the recurring 7500/8500 sound out problem has been fixed, at least. One very good reason to keep this update ;-). |

Glad I didn't get the "update" in time. It started to download and cut at about 8 megs, so Apple must have flipped the switch midstream on me. From what I see here, happy I didn't do it. |

Slow and buggy on my PM9600/Sonnet G3. Much slower than 10.2.6 and even more than 10.2. |

Worked great on my PTP/imac 800 17"/PBG4 867 15.2" . I think the problems are with the ethernet on dual 450 and 500 gigabit boxes which are connected to a 10baset network... Marty |

I also installed 10.2.8 on one of my mac's G4(agp). SLOW and BUGGY! other than that it's O.K. I hope Apple can get a fix for all those who installed it, SOON. The sad thing is Apple put in fixes for ssh and now there is a known hole in all the 10.2.6 boxes out there. Apple's hiring those ex-$roshaft coder's agian. |

10.2.8 is actually faster on my PowerTower Pro, and my problems with USB have disappeared. However, I have lost all custom icons on my System disk, and have been unable to restore them. Tried restoring disk permissions, but no luck (if anybody has a fix, let me know). I'm also having startup problems. Consistently get login screen on first try, but I am unable to login with my password and have to reboot (again, if anybody has a fix, let me know). I should've waited to install the update, but 10.2.6 was so bad on my machine that I couldn't wait. |

Trust me, you don't want it. If you've seen Apple's discussion boards, 10.2.8 is frought with tons of problems ranging from diabling ethernet on G4s to rendering many PCI cards unusable. How my mac managed to survive 10.2.8 (PM 8500), and real G4s did not is beyond me, but there is no way to get this update now unless you downloaded it earlier. Be glad - Apple will be working feverishly to fix its mistakes, and we'll have more stable (and hopefully FASTER) 10.2.8 soon (10.2.8 as it is on my mac is *slower* than 10.2.6). - Chibi Delennâ„¢ |
