Hey, Actually I am running a sonnet g4 800 card. I used Sonnet's "tune- up" to enable the L3 cache. I know others have had issues with this chip, but I suppose I am lucky, I upgraded from the 700 chip, so it literally was just plugging it in. I do have a beige g3 with an XLR8 zif in it, and the speed control DOES work with the g4 500 chip. I didn't have to use XPF to get it to jag, so my info is limited on the relationship between XPF and Mach Speed control. If you are having trouble with the powerlogic software also, wonder if the upgrade chip has issues with its cache. Not sure if it is running fine in 9, but X is touchy. As a last alternative, what about the Sonnet software?? I know it is NOT twekable, I hate that, but it got me up and running when PowerLogic failed. I have tested this, and it works pretty well with both the XLR8 chip, and the Sonnet chip. Sounds like the upgrade enabler software is causing the panic, probally with the initialisation of the cache. I have my Radeon in slot A1. I have heard that some have had better success with it in the bottom slot, assuming your proc upgrade enables the bottom three PCI slots, some espcially older Sonnet don't.... go figure ;-( I upgraded all my stuff from an 8500, and kept the slot positions the same, so since it is working, not need to start playing the PCI shuffle. pjack, Could you email me the 9 and X versions of Mach Speed Control 3? I would like to see about two things regarding them. 1) I would like to see if they improve upon what I enjoy now, and if they do, then I would gladly pay for them both since I prefer to have legitimate software when I can. 2) With any luck, I might get some insight into your lack of progress with these two apps. One thing I'm pretty good at is troubleshooting. If I find anything wrong with the software, I can usually pinpoint the source of the problem (doing something *about* that source is sometimes another story, but that's just life). My email is chibi_delenn at mac doht com (yes, one of those elongated names for webpages to avoid spam) - Chibi Delennâ„¢ |

Is it working for anyone ? I've reverted back to Powerlogix cache enabler. L2 Cache Config crashes in OS 9 when attempting to make config file. :-( XLR8 MAChSpeed Control - OSX 3.0 has never worked. :-( Always crashes at blue screen. :-( |

Heh. I've been trying to find a copy of Mach Speed Control 3.0 for both OS 9 and OS X so I can try them out and see if there's any enhancements/stability improvements over what I use now. If there are, I'd pay for them, even with as much as I hate Daystar (I like being honest). Anybody have that to test? I use 2.6.1 right now... - Chibi Delennâ„¢ |
