New forum software coming |

OWC has been working on implementing some new forum software, to address some of the limitations that have been long noted in the current forum (no searching, long load times, etc.). I don't have a date to announce yet, but I thought it was important to let you know that we are addressing the issue. If you want to see an example of what the new forum will look like, you can check out the OWC music forum: OWC Music Forum One of the issues we haven't entirely resolved yet is whether it's going to be possible to move the material from the current forum to the new forum. That's a pretty big priority for me, so I'm very much hoping that it will be possible. |

is it just me, or does the owc music forum look almost exactly like this forum but with different colors and all the text centered? they do know that there are tons of free php message boards out there, right? . .........................................gx77, it is not just you. That music forum is PHP but the format SUCKS. I'll hold off on complaining until I see the new forum to be fair. |

If you notice the URL of the Music Forum, you will see that it is a .php based forum. Thank God!!! I would be surprised if they were unable to move all of the data from this forum to the new one. There are many ways to write a php app to parse data after all. What did you have to do to finally get OWC to consider this? I mean, we've been waiting an awfully long time for this... |

We could just post the old topic's like this ...........:::::::::::::: http:// xpostfacto.dyndns.org/~jam/read.php?TID=7 ...::::: if they could keep the old forum up while we copy over the old to the new. That way we help them help us, and can bring the things worth keeping (anything I did not post) and junk the rest( all my posts) |

I am hopeful. OWC has been good to me with regard to RMA's and other issues/questions that come up, so I think having the forum here, with the historical archives is worth a shot. There is a ton of good stuff posted, and I for one would hate to see it get lost. Yes, there are some serious shortcomings on this forum, but let's see what they come up with.........at least there has been an acknoweledgement that there is....We all know what it can be, hopefully OWC will come through. If they don't, then alternatives are in the works and could be explored in further detail The one thing that I find really cool is that we can talk the the man behind the whole thing, that is worth a lot. Thanks Ryan. |

OWC could always call Mike Breeden from XLR8YourMac.com how he archived his forums to allow searches. It never hurts to have more than one head working on things like these. :) - Chibi Delennâ„¢ |

If the answer you get is it can't be done. You/ they need to get someone else to do the job! In regards to saving the current and older posts. |
