Just installed the Sonnett G4 700MHz upgrade to my 9600. Went to install the full install version of Jaguar, but couldn't open the "Read before you install.pdf", so I called Apl Care. I was told Jaguar COULD NOT be installed on a 9600, upgraded or not! Learned from OWC tech support about Ex-Post Facto when I called to find out what was going on (bought all from them). Before I take any missteps, I'm looking for detailed steps to help me through this. I'm re-deploying to the desert after a short leave here at home, and it's VERY important that I get this all straightened out so my wife and I have a communication link while I'm gone again for an extended period of time. Please help me!!! |

You need to hang on to your "old school" os to get this to work. If you need to go soon, might be best to leave the machine where it is until you get back...... Or at least do a clean install of 9 so it is stable. I would say do that anyway, since it is unstable. Depending on how much time you have, you could always email me as well, I upgrade these machines for hobby/extra $$$$ Jim |

Well I can try to help you get it going. My brother is in Bagdad ,so being as how you said you are Deploying soon I'll offer to help you with Telephone Tech Support if you like. I have Installed Linux,BSD,OSX, and all kinds of OS's on mac's for years so I've seen about every trouble there is. Even Installed MKLinux on my old 5300c once, talk about tough. Getting X86 and Gnome Desktop running on that was some thing. Only thing I'd ask in return is if you see my brother or my brother-in-law you say "hello". Email me at lyonsdj88@earthlink.net or post back. I'll be up till 3am EST or 9:30am to about noon. |

I'm in the Minneapolis area watching the Twins let one get away against the Yankees, Marty...you in the neighborhood? Brinster...thanks for the advice, but I'm afraid it's a little beyond my understanding of all this stuff. If I did figure it out, is this just for the install of XPF...or also for jag...and would I have to leave it like that if all went well with the install? I was hoping this would just involve proper selection of installing/sequencing XPF and Jag options. One of my concerns about downloading XPF is that I also want to do a complete hard drive wipe and a clean install of Jag. This thing has had a lot of problems freezing up, so I wanted to start totally fresh. I was wondering how I could do that if I needed XPF downloaded to accomodate getting Jaguar installed...since that would obviously mean wiping out the XPF as well. |
