this just started happening and I think it is either a power or a heat issue...... pm9500 g4 800 1 gig ram 10.2.8, 10.2.6, 9.2.2, 9.1 all on seperate hd's 2940 card two HD's macally FW/usb combo radeon 7000 two hds on main bus external hd on external mobo scsi external cdrw on 2940 card Just running my usaul repair permissions in 10.2.8, backup, etc. After I repaired permissions, the machine started to freak out, no kernal panic or grey language screen, but the dock starting acting really wierd randomly disappearing and finder windows started to scroll as if the mouse was acting on its own. I went immediately to 9.2, seemed fine, and then tried to go to my known stable install of 10.2.6 and it did the same thing, so I know it is not the OS. The machine had been on for 8 hours at that point. I am using the helper/proxy function to boot from the 2940 card. I turned the machine off, went back and the next day everything is okay. I have been running X on this machine for a year and have not changed any hardware. The only clue is that I tried the helper/proxy disk and that is when I first saw the issue. I have extra an cooling fan butted up to the HD's and the proc to give better airflow and have a power conditioner on the thing which I know is giving stable juice to the set-up. Anyone see this before??? I have a spare internal power supply that I am tempted to instal, but don't have any other ideas..... |

Stop, your killing me. Wish I had some real input here, but unless this trouble comes back I'd add it to the "Boy, that was odd!" pile. Got to go flame macguruGay now. |

Yeah, but don't you have to reverse the polarity of the recipticle or it will cause a feedback of polaron energy that could fry the grid?? The last thing I need is a quantum disruption around my mac...... |

It was hooked to the power grid. you need a triple bielink isolation reseptical. I just happen to have one and will trade for a PM G5. Or you could just buy a PC and run the real OS Window$. It's so safe you'll never know you've been hacked. |
