I also bought the Sonnet installer (at the time I didnt know about XPF) and it has worked well for me so far. But after reading about XPF it does appear to be a better product. I would like to switch to XPF, would there be anything I should be careful of in making that happen. Thanks |

Being a person who paid the $25-$30 for the Sonnet software, I can tell you that Ryan makes a better product, hands down! XPF fixed a few of the minor annoying problems I had with the Sonnet software. Thanx, Ryan!!! |

Sonnet's cost 25 bucks, and is not tweakable...it does work, but I prefer XPF, ESPECIALLY with the "helper disk". This one allows me the flexibilty of booting a faster drive from a 2940 scsi card. Plus you don't get the fun of this forum unless you spend an extra 10 bucks...... ;-0 |

Sure, when the sonnet installer won't work they point folks at XPF. The Sonnet is not bad it just lacks features. You can't set nvram, it sets what it sets and your stuck with it. If it works for you, that's all that is needed, but it always boots to built-in video. Sonnet should pay Ryan to write an installer with basic and advaced features, or just give up like they have with upgrades for pre G3's. |
