My ATI 7000 was working in 10.2. Then I went up to 10.2.5, and no video. Well, fast vertical roll w/pin cushion screen. I did the upgrade while in OS X. Do you need XPF for these upgrades? |

Make sure from OS9 you have XPF set to input device from the keyboard, and the output set to the Radeon (ATYxxxx)... If the screen is black at boot, sometimes you just have to wait until the blue screen. Marty |

XPF definitely not needed to do version upgrades in OSX. I agree that the "combo updater" appears to work better on unsupported machines. |

Oh something else with these System Software upgrades I usually go to the Apple site and download the Combo updater seems to do better than the one that comes through "software updater" Good Luck Jim |

No you don't need XPF to do the upgrades. try booting into "SafeBoot" Restart, at the chime hold the shift key down until boot, then reboot normally or single user mode Restart and at the chime hold the Command and S key down until Unix lines start to display when the code stops type "fsck -y" and press enter,... do not forget the space between the "k" and the "-" if the program makes any repairs re run it, by typing"fsck -y" and enter again a shortcut on this is if it makes any repairs when it is finished press the UP arrow and Press Enter it will run again Run the program until it finds no problems hope that helps Jim |
