Hi there. I have just installed a Radeon 7000 Mac Edition, in my 7300 G4/700. I am running two drives one OS9.2.2 4GB SCSI and X.2.8 on an ATA 80GB. I followed all instructions to the letter including latest drivers and have had no success when trying to open games or screensavers etc. Whenever I try to do something which requires the use of the Card, it unexpectedly quits on me. The System profiler in OS9 and OSX both recognise the hardware as being there. It seems I am unable to get any response from the software. I tried changing PCI slots, just for good measure, but to no avail.(Slots are full. USB/FW/ A-CARD/Radeon 7000. I also installed the lastest flash Rom, with no success. I'm fairly new to this stuff, so any help would be greatly appreciated..You've helped me before, and I'm hoping you can help me again... Thanks in advance, Ben |

Hey Marty... I have to admit I'm both thankful and also embarassed...I did not have the monitor connected to the Graphics Card. I also have to say that I did not even know that I needed to. Being an amateur, I thought the PCI slot would take care of everything...So I'm grateful you asked what YOU thought was a silly question. Everything in the manual referring to monitors being connected, I thought was in reference to more than one monitor.(additional). Anyhow...I now have the card working, but am having trouble with monitor resolutions...I can select any number of resolutions, but when I try to open a game, I keep getting a floating message on the screen telling me that I'm out of range. Out of sync....I don't understand what this means or how to fix it...Once again it is probably a very simple thing. If you have a fix, I would once again be most grateful. Sorry to be wasting your time on what is probably to you some very basic problems. I guess you will have a funny story to tell ppl at my expense, but hey that's OK.. Who knows, maybe one day I might actually be able to help you in return. Thanks again.. Ben |

10.2..8 shouldn't need any drivers installed to take advantage of the radeon 7000. It just works. If it's not working, you could try repairing permissions from the disk utility, but beyond that, I can't think of much else that could be wrong except maybe the sonnet card. If you have a different CPU to try, do so. If not you could play with the arrangement of your RAM modules. The monitor is hooked to the card and not the motherboard right? Dumb question I know... You should also make sure the motherboard cache is removed. Marty |
