I have a 8500/G4 800. Following directions on the forum I carbon copy my OX 10.2.8 hd into another hd, conected to a 2940. No luck. I read that the 2940u2b (ultra 80) that used to be OEM on G3 and G4 will be bootable. I just installed a new one. (2940u2b) CarbonCopy the X drive, resetting the access rigths and selecting the bootable option. I just follow the procedure that ryan suggested before. I go back into Xppsts, select the new drive to start up and get a black screen. |

I just tried the helper, with the same resutlt, no video. This is what I've done: 1) install x on a scsci HD on the buitl in chain 2) log as root and carbon copy to another scsi on the 2940u2b 3) go into 9 and start XPF 3 4) Select restart from the 2940u2b and os 9 drive as helper 5) Reboot and black screen |

Someone else said they used the Ultra160 LVD card from ACard of all people. I didn't mention the PSC, even though it is still being supported by ATTO, because you can't 'appreciate' the 10K drives on the market today, and for $148, they come in 36GB and 70MB/sec. I used ATTO UL3S in 7300. ATTO was surprised when I told them, but it did work fine ($290 now). |

Have you tried the helper disk utility in XPF 3?? I am booting off a 2940 using the old OEM drive on the main scsi bus as a helper, it works. I should have my 29160N today, so I can run without it hopefully. Jim |

miles2? I would recommend the ATTO Express PCI PSC, or the ATTO UL2D, or the Adaptec 29160N. The above all work well here and are bootable. I put them in increasing order of price. In my experience the SCSI cards provide a more reliable setup. With the ATA cards sometimes I see a "can't load drivers" message at startup and a crash. I have seen this exact behaviour even on B/W G3s, so it isn't an XPF problem. Marty |

Bootable etc but only in OS 9 on OldWorld. It was built for the Yosemite. I think you want Miles2 or just switch to ATA which offers easier success with OS X. |
