No expert I, but always willing to try. Having said that, I attempted an install of 7b59 and got some sort of message about Darwin 7 (see buried earlier post). With Panther final release I tried with 3.0a4 in verbose mode, and got as far as "still waiting for root device" over and over. I definitely did not see the same text as the earlier try. Does this mean anything to anyone? PM 7300/200, xlr8 G4/350, Radeon 7000, 288 MB RAM |

The Panther installer system doesn't have any drivers for old world internal SCSI bus (Mesh) so if you use an XPF helper disk to boot the Panther CD from a SCSI CD drive it will hang waiting for the root device. You'll need to wait for Ryan's Panther compatible version of XPF. |

That's what I got alot when I originally started installing OSX. I always thought it had to do with the old CD-ROM. Some of the old ones are not well supported. |
