I understand that the OS X partition must reside completely in the first 8GB for 10.0 & 10.1, but has this been fixed in 10.2? (As a side question, is there any way to search this forum?) thanks, dave |

No searching for this forum yet, but we are working on it. The only thing that I would add to what Will says is that the Mac OS X Installer thinks that the problem applies to any "Old World" machine (including the unsupported models), that is using an IDE card (except, as Will says, the IDE cards that pretend to be SCSI cards). The Mac OS X 10.2 Installer appears to behave in the same way. I suppose I should test this thoroughly and then file a bug if the Installer is wrong (my theory is that the problem is limited to the onboard IDE controller, but I haven't tested it thoroughly yet). |

If I understand correctly it is only an issue with the Beige G3 machines using the on board IDE controler and the VST Ultra Tech PCI IDE card. The other PCI IDE cards show the IDE drives as SCSI so they aren't affected. Nor are real SCSI drives . I'm sure we will hear if this isn't correct. Will S |
