After doing a clean install of 10.2 on my 8600 upgraded with a newer g3-400 I get a crash on boot. The new grey apple logo appears then the screen gets corrupted. I reboot into verbose mode and get this: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Kernel Version: darwin Kernel Version 6.0: Sat Jul 27 13:18:52 PDT 2002; root:xnu/xnu-344.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC No Debugger configured - dumping debug information MSR=00001030 Latest stack backtree for cpu 0: Backtrace: 0x0008593c 0x00085f00 0x00028b8c 0x002314a8 0x00213a38 0x00213834 0x00214184 0x002147e0 0x00204c60 0x00204c24 proceeding back via exception chain: exception state (sv-0x01011500) pc=0x00000000; msr=0x0000d030; dar=0x00000000; dsisr=00000000; lr= 0x00000000; r1=0x00000000; xcp=0x00000000 (unknown) Kernel Version: darwin Kernel Version 6.0: Sat Jul 27 13:18:52 PDT 2002; root:xnu/xnu-344.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC panic: We are hanging here... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I installed 10.1 with out a hitch :-) Any clue this time. This happen exactly the same on to separate installations of 10.2. Any clues? Is there any more infor I can provide? Thanks, Tom |

Tom, you need to boot OS9 & use the XPF options to reinstall BootX & reinstall extensions. That should allow you to reboot into OSX cleanly (albeit with the old-fashioned happy mac icon instead of the apple). Also, are you using the latest version of XPF? |
