When I got my 7300 to the install part it did not show any of my drives connected to my SIIG ATA card. I do not have a harddrive large enough to install X so I took it out, the original SCSI that is. Lee |

It's a long story, but the short version is that you will need to install Mac OS X onto a partition that is wholly within the first 8 GB of your drive. That is, you must install onto the first partition, and that partition must be smaller than 8 GB. (Actually, I suppose you could install onto the second partition if the total of the first and second partitions were under 8 GB). The Mac OS X Installer enforces this limit on all "Old World" machines (like your 7300), even though the underlying problem probably only applies to the Beige G3s. (I haven't tested that for sure). |

Now I just got an email that says something about OS X needing to be installed in under 8 gig of hard drive space for the primary partition. Seeing my 20 gig harddrive is split in two partitions should I repartition and try again? Does anyone know what this under 8 gigs thing is all about before I go and back up my entire harddrive. Lee |

I just checked the extensions in OSX 10.2 and it does show extensions for both ATA 100 and 133 PCI cards. I would guess the ATA 133 card is new enough that support didn't show up until perhaps 10.1.5 which would explain why it wouldn't work in the early versions of OSX. I no longer have a way of checking when support showed up but as I said above it is there for OSX 10.2 Best of luck |

I think as long as the internal SCSI bus is terminated it should be Ok. (I don't really have any info on the Siig card so that's an assumption on my part) ie make sure there's one device hooked to it (CD ROM?) and set to terminate. For some reason OSX seems to have major problems where OS9 did not with regards to SCSI termination. |

So I guess what I am trying to say is will OS X 10.2 recognize my SIIG ATA 100/133 card with attached drive with no internal 50 pin SCSI harddrive for installation to the SIIG drives? Lee |
