I have recently installed a sonnet trio ATA card. I also just installed a new fast hard drive. this is in a XLR8ed Power Center Pro. anyway, I get the waiting on root device message. it is always preceeded by a message saying htat it found my ATA card on a 66 mhz bus. which cannot happen. it has booted but sporadically. when it boots, the ATA is found on a 33 bus. how can I force it to always find a 3 |

I also sometimes have this problem. I have a Sonnet ATA 100 card, not a trio. It seems to happen when I use the ATA related 10.2 for boot (I also have 10.2 on an internal SCSI). I also get the message that I've booted on a 33 mhz AND a 66 mhz bus. It doesn't message it that way, it says something like ATA 33 mhz card and then on the following line says ATA 66 mhz card. Of course, I only see this message when I'm dong a single user boot, to run fsck. Usually I have to reboot once or twice and it then starts. -james |

I haven't tried the Sonnet Trio yet. Has anyone else had success with this card? It would be interesting to know whether it is a general problem or affects only Trios on the PowerCenter Pro, or what. |
