i have an 8500 w/G3 250 upgrade. it has 2M of expansion vram on the mobo right now. I dont have the $$ to get a full-blown ATI card, so I was thinking of buying 2M of vram to give it the full 4M on the onboard video. can anyone comment on if this will improve preformance at all? or will it just allow for increased bit depth? |

I have a 4MB ixMicro TT128 and I would say its roughly the same performance. I stopped using it b/c I had to do some monitor flipping at boot to get it working and it was not noticably better than the onboard. -b |

any, and I mean ANY PCI video card will outperform your onboard video. try to get a 4MB or 8MB IXMicro Twin Turbo to start. They should be cheap. |

You'll be able to increase the resolution and/or bit depth but you won't get any improvement in performance. Still, at about $30 for 2M on Ebay, you can't go wrong. Tony |
