No Classic w/new XPostFacto |

Hi, Just downloaded new XPostFacto. I'm already running OSX 10.2 and works fine except for no Classic. I do get error message as Classic starts the startup process. Since I already have OSX10.2 installed I thought all I needed to do was the 'Install Extensions' command in XPostFacto. Did that in OSX and under OS9. Each time tried starting up Classic, but get same error message still. Any suggestions?? Thanks! Mark |

Hi OSX Guru, I think you're right! Broke down and called Apple tech support earlier. Guy said asked me what version of OS9 I had. I looked at the Classic icon in the System folder and told the guy that it showed version 9.1.2 . The guy said that I needed to update to a minimum of 9.2.1 (or 9.2.2). Tried booting into OS9 and reinstall update 9.2.2. Unfortunately, Classic still doesn't open. Not sure if OS9 installed correctly. Will try again., Thanks, Mark |

It sounds as though that is a different problem than the one I fixed with XPostFacto 2.2.2. It sounds as though Classic is having some trouble updating your System Folder. A clean install of Mac OS 9.x might help--that is, Classic might have better luck with a fresh System Folder. |

The other thing which occurs to me is that it would be useful to take a look at your device tree. You can get a listing of the device tree with the following command (in the Terminal): ioreg -p IODeviceTree |

Can you tell me exactly what error messages you get when trying to start Classic? The Beige G3 is a little different than the unsupported machines. The problem I fixed with respect to Classic shouldn't be a problem on the Beige G3, so I suspect that you have a different problem. |

Sorry, forgot to mention that I have BeigeG3 with XLR8/G4/500 and 768MB RAM. HTH, Mark |
