Permissions fixing from CD? |

There's a thread in the Apple discussion lists describing how fixing permissions from the Install CD can help speed up Jaguar. I've just updated Jaguar to 10.2.1 on a 7500/G4/450MHz (OWC ZIF in an XLR8 CarrierZIF). In order to use the Install CD for repairing permissions, I wasn't able to start up by pressing 'c' on restart (I just got the blinking question mark). I had to go back to OS 9.1 (using my XLR8 emergency disk in the process). I ran XPostfacto 2.2.2 and picked the CD, which allowed me to start up there and run 'repair permissions' twice. Having done this, will XPostfacto have affected my ability to run 10.2.1? Do any of the things that XPostfacto installs represent a potential conflict with the updated 10.2.1? Thanks, Gene |

Thank you. Nice bit of foresight, that... Peace, Gene |

What you did should be fine. XPostFacto does copy some things from the CD, but it puts them in the /tmp directory, exactly because of scenarios like this (so that you won't interfere with an existing installation). |
