X has been running flawlessly (10.1.3) on my maxtor drive connected to a Tempo card. The scsi drive which was connected to an adaptec 2940uw would mount and run classic and boot 9.1 fine, but would not boot X. So I replaced it with the Initio Miles card from OWC, simply swapped cards. (1) option boot would now not boot 9 (2) X would boot but launching 9 apps. resulted in the error that there was no classic installed (3) I was able to boot X from the scsi drive by booting from the 9.1 cd, launching XPost, and selecting it (4) booted back from the maxtor the same way and now classic works, but I still can't boot 9 I suppose the next step would be to erase the scsi disk and start over, but I wonder if anyone could suggest a simpler alternative. |

This is the low-down on the S900. After two weeks of tinkering and messing about I got everyone playing nicely. The setup : S900 Sonnet G4 450 / 544mb ram interleaved / SIIG 133 ATA (aka Acard 6280M) in PCI slot A1 connected to IBM 75gig 7200rpm ATA with OSX 10.2.1 (and Maya 3.5 of corse). /Adaptec Firewire/USB2 Combo card in PCI slot B1 / ATTO UL3D in PCI slot C1 connected to IBM 18gig LVD Ulra 160 internal and two 36gig IBM LVD Ultra 160s striped Raid external.(moving to G5, if it ever shows its shiftless head) / ATI Nexus 128 in PCI slot D1 and ATI Radeon 7000 in PCI slot E1{ need another monitor,Sony perhaps?). / On the internal scsi bus 4gig Cheatah 10,000rpm at ID 0 with OS 9.1(this is the OS9 boot Disc) / Yamaha CDRW8824S at ID 3 / 2gig IBM 5400rpm at ID 4 (original drive). Believe it or not, it all works fine. This deserves a dance on the bed and a couple of shots Glenlivet. Whooooo Hooooh. Stretchin it to the hilt. |
