I have a PM 8600/300 with a sonnet G3 500 (466)? upgrade, OS 9.1, 352 megs (non-interleaved)ram, Vst ultra 66 PCI IDE, ATI Radeon PCI and two hard drives. The original Quantum Fireball 4gig is still hooked up to the SCSI chain and the IBM deskstar 30 gig is on the PCI IDE card. I partitioned the quantum fireball and installed OS 9.1 on 3.5 gigs of that drive then tried to install 10.0.3 with XpostFacto 2.2.3 Everything seemed to work fine until I was part way through the installation process and the white install box disappeared. The cursor worked but only a blank blue screen remained. This is what the end of the XPostFacto Log showed. startBlock: 332623 blockCount: 193 Writing partition info ... Restarting ... Boot-device: scsi-int/@0:7 Boot-file: -i Boot-command: 0 bootr -v rd=*scsi-int/@3:9 input-device: output-device: Can anyone help? |

That is odd. It sounds like you got to the Mac OS X Installer before the problem occurred? That is, you had selected a drive to install to and it had started copying files? Problems at that point often have to do with memory issues--sometimes removing or rearranging DIMMs can isolate a problematic one. In other cases, the problem has to do with SCSI termination issues, or issues with the SCSI cable etc. Or it can have to do with problems with the CD itself (though that is fairly rare). Let me know if you did not get as far as the Mac OS X Installer. |
