Hello Everybody: For the past 2 weeks, and since I increased my RAM to 1.25GB of which 902MB were from OWC, I have completely lost control of my computer, a PowerMac 9500 with the Powerlogix' G4/450Mhz PCI upgrade card. At the beginning, following the RAM upgrade, I started to experience all sorts of freezes and crashes irrespective of the program I was running. Then the dock started to disappear, followed by the drives and folders not showing up on the Desktop. Lastly the computer not being able to boot up at all. In desparaion, I tried to reinstall 10.0, 10.1, and finally 10.2 but to no avail. Finally, I reinitialized the 18GB hard drive which is external, and repartitioned it into 3, and when I tried to reinstall OS X the isntallation would start but would fail without any obvious cause...the only error message I see just states that the Istallation failed and that I should hit the return button to restart the computer. Is there anyway I can determine whether or not my new RAMs are the culprit here? I would appreciate any advise anyone is able to give me on this issue. Thanks everybody. Enrico. |

others (including me) have been noticing problems with freezes & unpredictable behavior since installing OWC ram. see the thread about freezes in 10.2- there's more info on what we're doing to figure this stuff out in there. |

I would assume that your problems are Ram related. Try pulling it all and loading 4 of the 128MB chips....if all is well then pull all 4 and load the other 4....if all is still good, pull 2 from each batch, and so forth and so forth, trying to find the defective stick or sticks. |
