800 MHz: choppy sound w/ iTunes |

I've installed the Sonnet 800 MHz G4 card and it works great. (I used the PowerLogix Cache Control program.) The only problem is choppy sound in iTunes (and RealOne Player). The choppiness correlates directly with processor load, so it appears that iTunes doesn't get the priority it needs. I tried to "renice" iTunes but that didn't seem to solve the problem. Has anyone else noticed the same, and identified a fix? |

I haven't and I have the Sonnet G4 800 also. I have my mp3 files on a IBM 60GB 120GXP attached to my Acard ATA/133 card. I have not myself had this problem under either OS9 or OSX. Although I have seen a few reports of this problem with Acard adapters the vast majority involve Sonnet cards. SCSI drives don't manifest this problem. The Acard poses as a SCSI card so maybe that is why I have not had this problem. I believe the later Sonnet cards appear as IDE to the OSX. Maybe that is the difference. What are your system specs.? |
