See my old thread "PTP/G3 circle-slash installing 10.2 - nvram error?" from the last 24 hours. After further work, I have eliminated all PCI cards, all RAM, SCSI, and drive issues. The PowerTowerPro referred to above is now stripped down to: 1. Apple branded Matshita CD-ROM. 2. Powerlogix G3/500, XPF throttle = 24. 3. ATI Radeon 7000, top slot, one monitor on the VGA port. 4. 18Gig IBM Ultrastar, internal (fast) SCSI bus, partitioned into 5 and 13 Gig partitions, formatted with Drive Setup from OS9.2 I am now able to get the installation to start, but I almost immediately hit a kernel panic. I can post the backtrace if it will help. I understand XPF 2.2.3 corrected an an issue about booting Darwin 6.0. Is it possible there are remaining bugs? Stefan Jeglinski |

OK! The new 2.2.4 fixed this problem. I went through the text boot and into the graphical installer. And then... Arrrrgh. It refused to even see the Ultrastar on the internal SCSI bus - I guess this is the same thing as the internal SCSI bus issue widely reported. I moved it to the internal bus because I was having different bad luck with the Atto UL2D, only after that reading that it needed to be the external bus. I will retry the Atto, and then I guess likely move to the external bus... will report back tomorrow evening... |

I have now posted version 2.2.4b1, which fixes an issue with 2.2.3 that might well be causing your problem. Let me know if it helps. Here is the URL: http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/Download/XPostFacto2.2.4b1.sit |
