Hello did anybody check if the Quartz acceleration works with the Radeon 7000 PCI card ? There's a small hack that allows to know if the display is or not accelerated: http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/#quartzextremecheck Do you think that I'll get visible display acceleration over the ATI Xclaim 3D (Rage Pro) I'm using now ? Any experience ? If QE does work, I'll buy one for my 9500 G3/400. |

Ditto. I'm running two monitors off the same card & have had no problems with QE enabled. |

Works like a charm. 10.2 is usable on a G3 400 with cache disabled, which is what I ran until I got the thing sorted out. At work, I have a Radeon 7000 PCI plugged into a G4 533 that has an nVidia AGP, and the Radeon is driving two monitors while the nVidia drives one, and I don't notice any difference. Now, game playing is another story. Maybe it's my G3 400 or something else, but most games don't work well. However, video works like a charm and the dock is snappy and background changes don't take forever and transluscent windows on terminals don't make any difference in terminal speed. But, probably most importantly, my CPU usage has gone way down, meaning that I can run iTunes and browse the web with no slowdowns. |

I have enabled it with my Radeon Mac Edition 32MB card. It has given a big boost to UI speed as far as I can tell. DVD movies and Quicktime movies play with no artifacts, even behind a trasparent terminal window. QT movies playing in browser pop-up windows did have the artifact problem though. Supposedly the latest ATI drive update has corrected this but I have not tested it yet. I did see a manifestation of PCI bandwidth issues in DV Captures from Final Cut Pro 3 though. I had dropped frames and sound dropouts. This was expected though. I have off and on been working on a shell script that will disable QE from the terminal with an alias. Once I have it worked out how to restart the window server I'll make it available to everyone. Hopefully I can make it an applescript applet for those that don't want to mess with the terminal. Other than the DV capture issue it is worth turning on. |

It worked with my setup. Turned it off due to concerns with PCI bandwidth. |
