I have downloaded and tried to install the NewerTech MaxPowrX (v. 1.0 cache controller) Installer from this site and others, and I can't get the package to install. When I double-click on the MaxPowrX Package in OSX.x, I get a dialog box that says, "The Installer Package 'MaxPowrX' cannot be Installed: Missing or old Bill of Materials." Is there a fix for this that I can apply? Maybe I should run a Package Repair program on it, or open TomeViewer? How can I get this to install? Help!? I apologize for this additional top-level posting, but this has really been bugging me. Maybe one of you Unix gurus out there have a simple answer? See Alan's thread L2Cache Config Enablers... (#4105) for additional info. -Jim |

I used to run a G3/500 mhz from Newertech and did not use the MaxPowerX software for the same reason. Trust me, Xpostfacto with L2Cacheconfig did just fine. You don't need the Newertech software. |

I'm using Ryan's L2CacheConfig v.3.3. It seems to be working okay, got write-through enabled, 2:1 ratio, shows that 1024K L2 cache is loading, OSX 10.2.1, 8500/MaxPowrG3-300, ~300Megs RAM, Firewire, ACard, SCSI Yamaha CRW-8424S, about 87 Gigs of disk space with three protocols... can't complain... am not complaining. Trying write-back mode. It's just that OSX 10.2.1 Apple System Profiler reports only 256k of Backside Cache; just irritating that it doesn't see the RL2CC-enabled 1M backside cache. Maybe the OS 10.2.2 Update will fix that, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe ADC-Apple_System_Profiler_2.6.4.img reports correctly; I'll try that. -Thanks, Jim |

MaxPowerX is just out of date. You could try L2CacheConfig, or the PowerLogix cache utility is pretty good too. |
