About a strange Extensions.mkext rebuilding |

Hello to all I just seen a strange symtom at my OSX installation.The computer evet time it starts it wants to detect all the installed extensions and log them to the files: Extensions.kextcache Extensions.mkext Every time this id done. I had installed an kext and started that. After that I removed it and it did not stoped. I even trached tese two files from OS8 and also did not stoped in every restart with apple v I see the extensions listing. |

It's normal for the startup process to rebuild these files if they are older than the /System/Library/Extensions directory (that is, if you have installed a new kernel extension, or removed one, etc.). But it should not happen at every restart--it should only happen if you have installed something etc. If it is happening every time, you could take a look at the modification date for /System/Library/Extensions to see whether it is odd in some way. Perhaps it is in the future--that might cause this problem! |
