I re-installed MacOSX 10.1.x into PM8500 with G3/400 upgrade card. I continued to install and update it to 10.1.4, and it worked well. Next, when I updated to 10.1.5, OSX cannot boot with following message in verbose mode. ... Automatic reboot in progress ... starting virtual memory USBF: 81.276 [0x205fc00] USB Generic Hub @2 (0x1200000) Nov 11 22:19:32 init: getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/ console, sleeping The last message line shown above is repeated in every 30 seconds, eternally. Before I re-installed 10.1.x, I have been using 10.1.5 on my system with no problem, except for system freeze and kernel panic occasionally. Now, what is wrong? |

It looks as though Mac OS X is having some trouble starting the loginwindow.app (I have given a more elaborate explanation in another thread, but that's the gist of it). Probably the most useful thing to try is to rename a couple of preference files: /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist Mac OS X will recreate them, and it is possible that this will help. |
