10.2.2: display resolution trouble |

Hi, I have problems with 10.2.2 on a PowerMac 9500 with an ATI Xclaim VR, 300MHz G3 CPU, and an AppleVision 21" monitor... After I install the XPostFacto extensions, I get the normal display resolution (1152*870) once, but after every later reboot the resolution will be fixed at 640*480. I had a similar problem with 10.1, but this time the reason seems to be something else (back then, it was a bug in AppleADBDisplay.kext). When it works the one time after reinstalling the Extensions I get the following messages in system.log: mach_kernel: ATY,XCLAIMVR: vram [81000000:01000000] WindowServer[]: Display 0x5b818ac0: MappedDisplay Unit 0; Vendor 0x756e6be Model 0x62b S/N 0; online (0,0)[1152x870], base addr 0xb000f000 ...and if it doesn't work, it will just say [640x480] instead. Anyone had a similar problem and knows a solution? Alex. |

I had a similar problem with the original ATI card in a 9500/120 in OS 10.1.x with cold boots untill I bought an original Mac Radeon card. But SwitchRes X might work. I use it to set resolutions with the Radeon card for a Apple 1710 monitor. OS 10.x doesn't automatically recognize the usable resolution with this set up but SwitchRes lets you access them. You can find it by searching on versiontracker.com |
