Not familiar with that card, but if the chipset is TI (texas instruments) for firewire, then a standard vanilla driver might work. Anyone out there have this card?????? If I know Adaptec, they probally put some proprietarty crap on the card, so if you try a standard generic driver, you might run into issue, so be careful...one more thing on that, does it have the interanl power connector on it?? Wondering if that might be an issue, it is an admitted longshot..... With regard to the scsi drives. You should be able to run on the faster scsi bus with 10.2, so that sounds like either a timing issue with scsi id's or the ever popular "disable unit attention" jumper, auto spinup, or termination stuff. X is touchy about scsi, and if you have two drives on the same bus, it could get a little screwy if you can even boot. I have to ask, did you try swapping the drive busses?? Since you are booting into X, it is not a hard drive driver issue, but a daisy chain issue I would think. Because that drive is by itself, it doesn't have to play nice with any other device, so it is okay. for reference.....my 9500 Sonnet g4 800, 1 gig Ram. Internal faster SCSI..... stock 2 gig quantum os 9.1 just in case(terminated ID 0), stock cd ID3, Seagate Barracuda ID 6 (that is the only ID it mounted at....)running X.2.6 External scsi.... big ass full height seagate(?) elite 47 gig ID 3, Linocolor jade2 scanner terminated ID 5 Bootable in X.2.6 via ccCloner. (boy was I happy about that...:-)) Adaptec 2940 card slot 3(flashed from windoze to be a power domain.... External-HP CD writer not-terminated(?) ID 4 Internal 2 IBM ultrastar 18 gig last one terminated IDs 1 and 3 ID 3 has 9.2.2 for classic and flipping to native aps if needed. 7000 radeon (go figure) slot 1 macally usb 2.0/firewire slot 2, with usb tablet joystick, and DVD Pioneer A03 burner all running okay. |

Yes, my card is an adaptec DuoConnect AUA-3121. It doesn't seems to exist a firmware update for this card on the adaptec site. I 'm under Jag 10.2.6, with a Sonnet G4/800MHz, 224 MB of ram (partialy interlived), PCI Radeon 7000 2 GB hard drive (alone on slow SCSI 5 MB/s) and 1 9GB IBM HD (on SCSI 10MB/s with a ZIP 100 and the std CD-ROM x 12). Under OSX all works fine (except Firewire devices) (I recall I have not tested USB2 devices). |

Oh yes, in OS 9.2, no USB 2.0, haven't figured that one out yet, but can live with it, there are threads here on that........ |

what brand combo card are you running?? Do you know the chipset?? Usually the firewire is TI and USB is NEC. A lot of the time, this can be fixed easily by either updating the firmware of the card, or making sure the drivers for that card are current for your X install. Also, I had some issues with my Macally combo card in 10.1.5. I went to Jag (currently 10.2.6), and found that the combo card worked MUCH better, especially with the firewire DVD burner I use. The only issue I had with my combo card was that I was NOT getting FULL USB 2.0 speed in X with the normal drivers, but was assisted by someone here that emailed me the goods, and I finally got it to work. Don't get me started on the non searchability of this forum........... :-) |
