Aspyr's Return To Castle Wolfenstein Return to Castle Wolfenstein is an extremely well done first person shooter that brings back memories, all the way to the early years of the 80's when I played Castle Wolfenstein on an Apple II. We'll, it's come a long way, and it is one of the more fun games in recent times. All tests were performed using the default "high quality" settings, no config file trickery or any unusual enhancements were performed generating these scores. Standard TimeDemo routines used. The 2+ year old GeForce2MX is showing it's age here - barely able to play the game at decent resolutions. Time to upgrade! This is the current "entry level" video card used in the most recent Apple systems, and it's marginal in many cases here unless you have a high-power G4 processor to offload some of the tasks. ATI's 1-1/2 year old 8500 is still a GREAT performer in all respects - couple this card with a fast G4 processor, and you've got a very good gaming machine! The ATI RADEON 9000 Pro is almost duplicating the performance of the RADEON 8500 it's destined to replace. What more could you ask for - a reasonable priced vide card that offers dual monitor support - the 9000 is it! Well, if there's one way to excel at games it's to have the very best graphics card in your system. If you've got the extra money to spend, then look no further - the GeForce4 Titanium is a great card in every respect. Continue on to page 7: Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Outcast |
