The above test is a simple stopwatch timing the startup of the computer, from the moment you press the power key until the Apple menu appears. Notice that all of the drives were able to boot in about 1 minute; within a 5 second window.
The above test was the amount of time it took to perform a duplication of a 250MB folder consisting of both applications and documents; I took the stock Mac OS 9.2.2 installation's "Applications" folder and duplicated it 4 times; that created a 251.5MB folder. I then threw out Sherlock and Simpletext; and the folder size is exacty 250MB, 2,578 items. Timed with a stopwatch once again, from the time you press command - d until the copy completes.
Notice that all of the drives using controller cards are very linear in their performance; for everyday use there are no losers in this test, any PCI ATA controller card will bring your Beige G3 up to speed for sure!
