Qx2 (All): Cross-Platform RAID Format

If you are running Windows Vista SP1 or later or Mac OS 10.6.5 or later, you can format your Qx2 volume to use the exFAT file system.

This will allow the drive to be recognized by both Macs and PCs, and elimintes the 4GB file size limit imposed by earlier systems that required the use of FAT32 as a format. However, like FAT32, exFAT does not support file compression or system-level encryption, so it is not a good option for data security uses. exFAT drivers are also available for Windows XP as an update.

Note: you need to use GUID as the partition map scheme if you want to use a volume larger than 2.2TB. Please check your OS documentation for more information on how to format a drive with exFAT.
