i just ordered up one of these from megamac.com for $49.99 a today only special. It is part of the ATI 128 family so should work with the Apple DVD player hacked for old world macs of course. Which is my main reason for getting it. Also is less then half of a Radeon 7000 and I don't need 32mb video ram on this old machine. Research shows it likely had problems installing OSX but after the install should work fine especially with 10.1.3 which included the new ATI drivers. So I'm guessing the new drivers are in OSX 10.2 and it installs and runs fine. Anyone using one of these? Will S |

Would you please help me enable Apple's DVD drive to work with old world macs? I just ordered a Redeon 7000 for this purpose, and I have a Apple ide DVD drive removed from my G4 dual 450 in OWC's fire wire enclosure conntecting to PM9500. |

I've been using an ATI Rage Orion we/16 megs for a couple of years...nice solid little workhorse and never a bit of trouble on OS 9 or X. Highly recommended! |

yes, those cards from MegaMac are a killer deal! the only issue with the Orion was the ROM which had a firmware update posted in September of 2001 (filename: "ATI_ROM_9-01.sit"). after applying this update, your card should work just as well as the OEM Rage128 that shipped in Apple's computers, because it has the exact same chipset as Apple's and will run perfectly using Apple's OS drivers--in any version of 9 or X--with no need to install ATI software. good luck! |
