Blue screen after install of Jaguar |

I got a blue screen after installing 10.2. This happens after the splash screen finishes up and where the desktop normally shows up. Only this time no desktop - only the blue screen. During the install process, there were some processes and files that were either not found or did not get loaded. Is this normal? When I loaded 10, I did not recall any errors of files or processes not loading, I recall everything was found or loading. This shows up between starting XPOSTFACTO and the installer. I am at a lost. I have left it like this for at least an half hour. I would think that something would happen during this time. I have tried everything I could think of - reloaded bootx and extensions under advanced |

Success - The 9500 is now running 10.2. After reading articles on this forum and another on Macfixit, I was able to figure out what I neede to do. What I did: terminated the IBM 9GB drive (80-50 converted) added the resistor packs back in, used XPostFacto 3.0.a4, throttle set to 20, custom install minus the foreign languages and fonts, left everything else, and I let it fly from that point on. Only installed disc 1, and the printer stuff from disc 2 (Epson). My setup - 9500, G4/450, 768Mb RAM, ATI Rage Orion w/16MB video RAM 2GB (OS 9) BUS 0 ID 0, 9GB 0S X (10.2) BUS 0 ID 1 Thanks to all who helped Tom |

Sorry, I was not done when I hit the post message button. I have tried everything I could think of - reloaded bootx and extensions under the advance menu. OX 10 - 10.1.5 loaded without any problems. I was hoping for the same in 10.2. I had other problems before that were solved from using this forum. my setup - PPC9500, G3/250, 768MB RAM, ATI mach 64 video card (came with computer) 2GB (OS 9) ID 0, 9GB (OS X) ID 1 (80-50 adapted). If I can't get this resolved, I'll switch back to 10.1.5 and leave it alone until I get a more up to date Macintosh. I reformatted the drive and did an install of Jaguar. Would using another install CD make any difference? Should I try to do that.? The one I was using installed fine on other machines, even on a S900. Any sugesstions? Thanks, Tom |
