PPP Problem |

Tonight I have been unable to connect via PPP in X with either Net Monitor or Internet Connect. I click the connect button and nothing happens. The modem never dials and the button still says Connect. Everything works correctly in 9, which is where I am posting this from. This has happened once before and the way that I solved it was to reinstall X. I would really rather not do that again before I get 10.2. Has anyone else ever experienced this and been able to resolve it without reinstalling? Thanks, Britney |

I can't promise this will work but it is easy to try. A standard fix for Unix file problems and now OSX. Startup in single user mode. Hold down the Apple and S keys. When the scrolling stops and you get the prompt type in "fsck" (don't type the quotes) It's a bit like running Disk first aid. This will check your files. When it is done it will tell you what it found. It is fast only takes a short time unless you have a really large hard drive. Then type "logout" which will put you into OSX normally very quickly. Typeing reboot would have it restart from the begining which takes a while. best of luck |
