Hello fellow addicts, I have a PTP 225 upgraded with a Newer Tech G4 450, a Quantum 4.5 gig and an IBM 2gig, on which i am trying to install OS X Server. My problem is this... I insert the install CD, launch XPostFacto and when i try to select a my intall cd as the start cd the line below says that my cd is not bootable and can only be used as an install disk. I tried this option, XPostFacto appeared to install everything, then quit and attempted to restart. The result was a black screen. I have also tried installing X.03, and Jaguar, same results. Any Ideas? |

Let me understand: You run XPF, it writes it's kernel extensions etc. to the soon-to-be OS X drive, restarts, and then what happens? I ask because I've a PTP225 with a PowerLogix G3/500 and I had to play with the CDROM's jumpers to adjust termination to get it to install. I also had to put the drives onto the slower internal SCSI bus. Until I did this XPF would do its thing and restart to Mac OS 9. |

I figured out the problem. First, the black screen was due to the fact that I am using an old radius 19" monitor that has a fixed resolution. I was getting to verbose mode, but couldn't see it because the monitor wouldn't go to the correct resolution. The second part of my problem is my CD ROM drive, which is supposed to be bootable but is not. So until i decide to purchas a new monitor and Apple CD ROM my dreams of running OSX on my PTP are dashed. I see that OWC has an 8X Apple CD ROM for $19.95...... Hmmmmmmm. Now if i can only find a nice cheap monitor. |

From your description it sounds like X.2 never got installed. It will take at least 20-40 minutes for this to happen. It sounds like you selected to CD correctly as the disk to start from. The message you got was normal, you cannot boot from CD. The second frame of Xpostfacto allows you to select the destination drive, the one you will be booting from when finished. Reboot back into 9, run Xpostfacto. Select CD to install from and select your particular partition you want to install X.2. Go ahead and reselect to reinstall BootX and extensions just to be safe. Good luck Ed |

OK, after rebooting in 9.1 and reinstalling the extensions and bootX, XPF still will not recognize the drive with X installed as a bootable drive. It says that OSX is not installed on that drive. |

The ixMicro works fine in X. Boot into 9, open Xpostfacto, select to reinstall BootX and the extensions from the menu, select your drive that X is installed on from the drop down, click restart. Britney |

Depending on what version of Xpostfacto you are running you may have to reinstall BootX and the extensions in 9 and try rebooting. Britney |
